You really feel like you’re in Florida, too. Like I said in my other comment, Sarasota might be a good option.

Just my view, but you won’t find much in the way of good hiking unless you’re right by one of those places or else in the dry season in places like Fakahatchee Swamp or Big Cypress. Most prettier sections of woods are private or else in the panhandle (Apalachicola) with the exception of Ocala National Forest. The chain of lakes in Winter Park is cool, but I feel you can only do that so many times. The Indian River is extremely underrated for an estuarine environment and offers a great relatively unspoiled coastline. Naples offers better access to Florida Bay and other jewels of the Everglades than Miami does, in my opinion, unless you’re living out in the Redlands or parts of the Keys. I’m sure there are more, but I wouldn’t move to a certain city specifically for judged shows is what I’m saying.Īs far as the unspoiled outdoors go, there’s four different environments: swamp, lake, ocean, and pine lands. If classics are more your thing, there are judged shows all over the state-Amelia Island, Boca, Palm Beach, Naples, and Sarasota all come to mind. Be advised that Orlando has a lot of rice, whereas Miami is mostly (or was, when I was living there) European imports. Used to be Palm Beach International, but that has been or is being sold for development so Sebring picks up the slack for Palm Beach County.

If it’s track, most people either go to Homestead if you’re near Miami or Sebring if you’re in the middle third of the state. As far as cars go, it unquestionably goes Miami, then Orlando, then Tampa, though it depends on what you like to do with your car.
